Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

We’re settling back into home life after a month on the road. We covered thousands of miles by air, rail, road and sea and took in some amazing sights along the way. After 11 different overnight stops it’s nice to be back in our own bed again and catching up with the pets and family.

I’ve so many photos to sort through from our journey through Vancouver and Western Canada, the Rockies, Alaska and finally Seattle so it will take some time to collate them all. Here is a preview of some of our Alaskan adventures – the scenery, dramatic landscapes and wildlife were just some of the highlights.

I’ll gradually post about it all over the next few weeks!

No wonder you had flu, looking at those skies! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ A fabulous experience- can’t wait to see the icebergs, from the warmth of my armchair. Hope you’re soon feeling great, Rosemay, and thanks for spending so much time at mine today. Sending hugs!

    1. Thanks Jo! It was quite a contrast weather wise as it was so hot in Vancouver and the Rockies (one day got to 38 degrees centigrade) then so much cooler up in Alaska. Have some wonderful photos of glaciers and icebergs. I’ll probably work through the trip in chronological order so the glaciers will come up in a few weeks time! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes we didn’t expect warm weather in Alaska! Actually wasn’t as cold as we thought it would be and they had had some really hot days over the summer before we got there – climate change is naturally a big issue and they notice it especially in this part of the world! Many more posts to follow…..

    1. The scenery was as dramatic as we’d hoped even on grey days it was pretty special πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Anabel – I’m getting round to sorting through the photos! Unfortunately we also had similar wildfires to those you experienced last year in Canada so the Rockies were partially hidden by a smoke haze. Alaska was beautifully clear – at least the parts we visited I do believe they had some wildfires over the summer but not where we went.

      1. I’m sure the Rockies were still beautiful, but it’s sad they had another year of wild fires.

        1. Yes unfortunately it seems it’s becoming a regular occurrence. There were also fires across the border in Washington State – Seattle was so smoky they had to close the airport for a while.
