hi, I’m doing a bit of ancestral search and 59 Paddington st comes up as a residence of my great great grandfather too.
I think it must have been some kind of institute/poor house as my family definitely had no money!
That’s so interesting to hear! I don’t think it was a poor house as they had some money – he was a trunk maker by trade and so were his sons. The women were dressmakers so I think at the very least they rented it from someone.
