Such a change of scene from one week to the next – we had yet another sweltering heatwave with temperatures around 40 degrees for a few days then suddenly a welcome change last Sunday. The temperature plummeted about 20 degrees in half a day with the onset of a howling south westerly.
We headed down to the sea and enjoyed a bracing walk along the coast! The skies turned grey and threatening and we even had to don our rain jackets. The squally showers and pounding seas were reminiscent of a winter storm. Strange weather patterns for the time of year indeed!

The wild weather quickly abated after a day or so and most of the week it’s been back to blue skies and sunshine here, albeit not quite as hot as the previous week thank goodness!

Those first few images could have been taken here, except your temperature was probably 10 degrees higher (it has been mild this winter with a few exceptions). It’s hard to know what to expect!

Yes it was very strange – very unusual in summer and coming off the back of such a heatwave. It probably felt much cooler to us than it would have to you as we had adjusted to the heat! My dad says it has been a mild winter on the whole for you with temperatures in the mid teens! Itβs apparently pouring with rain today though in Yorkshire.

It’s a grotty day here too. But there are signs of spring π

Thanks Anabel – think the ran on the horizon as the sun was setting cast a pretty light π I liked the contrast with the greys.

I have to say I like those moody grey shots. Probably because the blue is the norm here.

Thanks Jo and yes I think we are drawn to the contrast with what we normally see. Actually we love the winter storms here (not that these photos were taken in winter!). I always love the sage green coastal foliage against the backdrop of the grey seas and skies!

Vielen Dank Isabel! π These were taken last Sunday early evening – we were practically the only ones down at the coast (North Beach) as it was so wild and windy. We got fish and chips to bring back home with us for dinner – it was reminiscent of winter though somewhat warmer π
