Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

A very happy New Year to everyone!

We have had a busy Christmas and New Year with family visitors including our daughter, Mlle, from London for 3 weeks and my cousin from New Zealand for a few days. All this has taken precedence over blogging!

We have done outings to the zoo where the highlight for our granddaughters was Zoorassic Park, following the dinosaur trail, though we also had an unexpected treat when we literally nearly bumped into Tricia, the 61 year old matriarch of the Perth elephant herd, on one of her daily walks round the zoo.

Cafes, restaurants, outings up the coast to Yanchep Lagoon and inland to the wineries of Swan Valley plus a cricket game at Optus Stadium have taken up our time too. The weather is pleasantly mild – am hoping it stays that way as I much prefer the cooling effects of the strong coastal breeze.

Hope everyone else has had a good holiday period and very best wishes for 2019!

Having visitors does get you out and about locally, though I don’t think you have any problem in doing that! A pity I never got to Perth whilst the family were there, but maybe one day. Did your daughter take the direct flight? My son has now moved up to Brisbane! I reckon I must get over there before they head off elsewhere 😀

Wishing you and your family a great 2019 Rosemary, in whatever direction it takes you.

    1. So sorry for my delayed reply Jude – not sure where last week went. No our daughter came via Doha on the Qatar/British Airways flight. She got delayed in Doha due to the drone saga at Gatwick – they held the flight on to Perth so the people from Gatwick could catch it. Fortunately it was only 2 and a half hours late but try explaining that to her 2 excited little nieces! The direct flight got cancelled the other night out of Perth due to a technical issue – they had to send across to Sydney for the necessary parts!! We are coming over in April – going Qatar too not yet convinced about the non stop and it’s more expensive but guess you pay for the convenience. Yes you’ll have to get over to Australia at some point! Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2019 as well 🙂
