We got back from our travels last Sunday and are still adjusting to the change of time zone and seasons (summer is definitely over here in Perth and winter is just around the corner). It’s always a surreal feeling when you travel so far in such a short space of time. The pets were very happy to see us and all seemed well on the home front.
I’ve already covered our long weekend at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival (see here). After that we had another 10 days or so visiting family in the UK (Yorkshire and London for me, Somerset and London for Monsieur) before heading off to Switzerland for an 8 day break. Our younger daughter, Mlle, managed a few days break from work to join us for part of the time.

Lunch by the river – Thun Switzerland
Here is a quick review of some of our Swiss travels – I’ll gradually be working through the photos and writing up posts over the coming weeks.
Montreux
Zermatt/Gornergrat/Matterhorn
Thun and Lake Thun Switzerland
Luzern/Lucerne
More posts to follow and I’m looking forward to catching up on blog reading in the next few days!

Heavens! Where did the time go? π π Looks like a wonderful trip, Rosemay. Of course it always is when family is involved but your Swiss photos look beautiful, especially that Lucerne at night.

Yes it seemed to go very quickly Joy – we were away 3 and a half weeks and it flew by! The pets were happy to see us and the housesitters had done a great job. The house was as clean as it’s ever been when we got home!! So much to write up about and will gradually organise in the coming weeks. Hope all’s been well with you and you are having a lovely bank holiday π

You saw some amazing places in your travels! Were you very glad to get home? I always am, even if I’m away for only a few days . . .

Yes we had a lovely time travelling Kerry but I’m always glad to be home! I find 4 weeks is about the maximum I like to be away – this time it was 3 and a half weeks. Just a pity that Europe isn’t a bit closer though from next year there will be non stop flights from here (Perth) to London by Qantas a real game changer for us!

Isn’t Switzerland just magnificent! Your photos certainly do it justice. I am heading north to Europe this weekend after a stay of several months in Perth with family. And my goodness – doesn’t it get cold here, even when the sun is shining! I am pleased to be missing your winter for sure! Really enjoy your posts so looking forward to more!

Thanks yes love Switzerland – have been lucky enough to go there a few times and the scenery is stunning! Glad you’ve had a good stay in Perth with your family π Yes it does get very cold here as autumn draws in and winter beckons. People are often surprised at how cold it actually feels as the air temperatures can be deceptive (whether because of the wind chill or the vast Indian Ocean along the coast I don’t know but it can be bitingly cold). We have a wood burner which has had a lot of use already this year! Safe travels back to Europe!

Hi Rosemary. Sorry for late comment but welcome back. Lovely photos of your trip, we haven’t spent much time in Switzerland so look forward to more details posts of your travels. Hope your daughter is safe after last Saturday’s events in London. Luckily our daughter was home. x

Thanks Ruth – I will certainly be posting more about Switzerland in coming weeks! The events in London were horrific – so glad your daughter was safe at home. Our daughter was out with friends in Spitalfields, which is only about a mile away from the attacks. Fortunately she messaged us to say she was safe before we had seen it on the news. It is shocking and deeply troubling – feel desperately sad for the poor people caught up in all of this. As parents of adult kids living in London it’s a worrying time, take care X

Yes is it worrying, but we have to let our adult kids chose their own path. I’m sure your daughter loves living in London as much as our’s does. Our hearts go out to those impacted.
