Since arriving in the UK nearly a week ago, we’ve had wild March gales, wintry April showers and temperatures that have felt to this “Perthling” like the Arctic, with the wind chill factor added in for good measure! Yesterday, however, we had a beautiful early Spring day, that whilst still chilly was clear and sunny with only a gentle breeze. The perfect weather for a day out in one of my all time favourite places, the ancient city of York. Here is a sneak preview of my trip!
I have managed (I think!) to produce this travel update on my iPad so hopefully it will publish successfully! My usual blog posts will resume on my return to Perth at the end of this month. Wishing everyone a very happy Easter and a wonderful long weekend!

Quite! This morning it is raining and foggy my dad says it’s more like November than Spring – still we were very fortunate yesterday!

Yes the sun had some warmth in it yesterday 😃 I am trying to get out for a walk this morning but don’t think I’ll be in luck perhaps it will clear by this afternoon?!

Thanks! Actually must confess I didn’t do the whole walk as my dad had a free pass for the Minster, which we took advantage of – so not enough time. However my iPhone showed I’d done 12000 steps yesterday so made up for it by walking around everywhere in York – just love the old cobbled streets I could walk there for hours! Just as well as today is miserable, wet and cold so an indoors programme today!

You did a good job! 🙂 It’s a good-looking city, isn’t it? You missed the really cold spell but I’m afraid we’re back to dank and drizzly today. Better tomorrow, I think. Have fun! 🙂

Thanks Jo I’m just happy I worked out the WordPress app I was hoping I hadn’t pressed the wrong buttons! York is a wonderful place so beautiful I always try and fit a trip in there whenever I’m here if at all possible and yesterday didn’t disappoint. Looks like it may be a fine and sunny Easter weekend fingers crossed 😃

The food is wonderful too Gin so many cafes and eateries. For some reason Cornish pasties seem to be everywhere in Yorkshire!! Was so glad it was such great weather yesterday for our York trip – today has been miserable and damp. I took so many York photos to remind me of the lovely day 😃

Thanks Kerry – York is always one of my favourite day trips. Since I grew up around here and my family still live in Yorkshire, I’ve been lucky enough to go there a lot. The atmosphere and history of the place is wonderful! Just got back from a Yorkshire tea very filling but just what you need on a damp foggy day! Hoping it will brighten up again soon 😄

Thanks it’s a wonderful place isn’t it?! I took so many photos so will be writing the posts up properly when I get home – York would have to be one of my all time favourite places I just love wandering round soaking in the atmosphere and we had such gorgeous weather yesterday too! Not so great today but things can only improve and hopefully the dreary rain will stop soon 😃

Beautiful spot for sure! Perth has really cooled down now – everyone in jeans and sweaters as it is only about 28 degrees!

It’s funny how we get out our jackets and cardigans in Perth when it’s about the mid twenties whereas in the UK people would be in beach gear if it were that “hot”. After the Perth summer though 28 is just lovely and with the sea breeze in the afternoons it is often much cooler. It’s been sooo cold here in England with the high winds earlier this week – the wind just went straight through to your bones! I am staying well rugged up though it was a bit milder yesterday when the sun came out! 😃

Thanks Lucy – York is a stunning place and well worth visiting if you are ever over this way! It was a lovely day still crisp and chilly out of the sun ( though many people were sitting outside cafes and restaurants)! I love all the old streets and buildings York has a fascinating history! Have a wonderful Easter weekend! 😃

Thanks Joy – York is wonderful isn’t it?! All that history and character and there is something for everyone. We went to the Castle Museum with my nephew a couple of years ago and he loved that. This time we walked everywhere enjoying the atmosphere on such a lovely early spring day! My dad had a free pass for the Minster so we went around there, which I hadn’t done in quite a while. At least the gales have settled down and according to the forecast it’s fining up for Easter. Hope you had a great trip to Spain and have a lovely Easter weekend! 😃

Lovely pictures. I remember visiting York on our way to Scotland in 2004 and we quite enjoyed it though we only had a few hours which wasn’t nearly enough. (Suzanne)
