  1. Happy Australia Day Rosemary! Do you have special plans – hope it’s a good day.

    1. Thanks Joy we had a lovely day just a walk and breakfast down by the sea then we went over to friends for evening drinks – we watched the annual Australia Day fireworks display that Perth puts on down by the river (the Skyworks show) from their upper balcony. Obviously you’re viewing from a distance but it saves the hassle of going into the city with all the crowds! 🙂

    1. What a coincidence! I saw your post about the Serpentine Dam so wondered if you were in Perth. Hope you have a wonderful time in Perth with your family! 🙂

    1. Thanks Kerry yes it was a lovely day and down by the sea even on the hottest days there’s always a breeze which makes it very pleasant! Australia Day is a big holiday here understandably!

  4. Is it popular to have a boat in Australia ?

    1. Hi Gin yes boating is a very popular pastime and quite a few people have boats – we always joke that the boat harbour near us is a bit like St Tropez but not with quite the same price tags! We don’t have a boat however! I’m much better at looking at the sea than sailing on it and in any case they require a lot of maintenance and are very expensive to run. Still it’s lovely to watch the boats on the ocean – there is a good vantage spot near our favourite walking spot which is where we took the photos from 🙂

      1. I’ve also thought about St Tropez, it looks a bit like that ! Having a boat is a lot of commitment and running cost, for sure. I’m a bit like you, I prefer to walk along the harbour or the beach, and look at the sail boats 🙂

        1. It’s very relaxing wandering around watching the boats – we went to the Côte d’Azur many years ago as backpackers and some of the yachts were incredible!

… I agree. Someone once said “Owning a boat is like ripping up money and throwing it in the water”! Much easier to rent or book a passage on someone else’s boat 🙂

    1. Thanks Hanne and am so glad you like the photos and they bring back good memories for you! I think sailing is very popular in Norway? I know my friend who lives in southern Norway does a lot of sailing in the summer months. It was a beautiful day for Australia Day yesterday and lovely down by the sea 🙂
