As the year draws to a close, I thought I’d share a few travel memories taken during our European trip in April/May. I’ll be writing up more detailed posts in the New Year.
Malvern Hills Worcestershire (below), York on a very rainy day, Fountains Abbey Yorkshire, Regents’ Canal and Coal Drops Yard (Kings Cross) and St Pancras station in London.

Paris! Too many photos to choose from. The following photos are just a small selection – we explored several arrondissements during our visit including the Marais and St Germain districts.

Next stop Lyon where we spent a couple of days independently, before joining a week-long cruise along the Saone and Rhone rivers. Our itinerary took us north along the River Saone to Chalon-sur-Saone and Burgundy wine country, then south back to Lyon to rejoin the Rhone. From there we sailed down through the rural Ardeche region, finally reaching Provence and the Camargue. Our main stops were Avignon and Arles and we did a half-day side trip to the medieval hilltop village of Les Baux-de-Provence.
Lyon – (below) River Rhone, Vieux Lyon and La Croix-Rousse

River Rhone (and Saone) cruise

And finally our last stop (after the cruise) – Nice and the picturesque hillside village of Eze

Thank you to everyone who has followed “Le Chic En Rose” this year despite the relatively few posts – your support is very much appreciated. I’ll be writing up all the travel posts in the New Year.
A very Happy New Year to everyone!

Thanks Anabel – hope you had a good New Year’s celebration in spite of the inclement weather! Yes the trip was fabulous – I thought I’d share some photos (before the end of 2024!) but will write it all up properly when I get back from the UK later this month. Very best wishes for 2025 🙂

Another busy year, sweetheart. Lyon looks promising and I always fancied Avignon. Hope all goes well with your January visit and you can settle down to enjoy life. Happy New Year!

Thanks Jo! We really loved Lyon – I have wanted to go there for many years as I once did a uni thesis on the background to the French political upheavals in the 1800s with special reference to the silk weavers in Lyon (not sure anyone would want to read it now?!). Anyway Lyon didn’t disappoint – the gastronomy is superb, the history fascinating and the lovely old streets and traboules (secret passages) in the Vieux Ville were so interesting to wander through. Avignon was wonderful too plus Arles with the Roman and Vincent Van Gogh connections. We could easily have spent several days in each of those places. I’ll have much to write about when I return from the UK and got over the jetlag!
Happy New Year to you! xx 🙂

Dear Ros
A beautiful collection of photos.
Aside from the greenery and architecture and stylish touches, I am so drawn to their mosaic floors.
Have a lovely 2025 – Gx

Thanks so much Gill! The architecture was amazing and we saw so many different styles as we made our way down from the north to the south of France. I’ll be writing up more detailed posts once I return from my trip. Wishing you all the very best for 2025 xx
