Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

Hello my name is Rosemary! I grew up in the north of England, Yorkshire to be precise, spent 9 years living in London and then decided to emigrate with my husband and small daughter to Perth Western Australia. Now over 30 years later with 2 daughters, and now 2 granddaughters (who are growing up rapidly!), I’ve decided to create this online space to highlight all the many things that inspire me including travel, fashion, history, learning languages and spending time with my family. Over the years I’ve travelled extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Europe. I’ve always been fascinated by history and how it shapes our modern world. Wherever I go I love meeting people and listening to their stories and perspectives. Oh and one more thing I love to get ideas and inspirations for fashion and style! These are a collection of my musings as Le Chic En Rose!

      1. Hi Alison, lovely to hear from you! I’ve been following Restless Jo for several years now – how nice of her to put us in touch. I’ve been a bit slack on the blog as of late but have quite a few posts coming up. I originally started the blog as a sort of travel diary to record our overseas travels, which of course came to a halt with Covid. I finally got back to the UK to see my family there at the end of August. I still have to write up the whirlwind trip (24 hours) that my daughter and I did to Paris. That’s coming up! However I also blog about Perth and the South West. I am now following you too and will be sure to check out your posts, very best wishes Rosemary 🙂

    1. Hi Sam lovely to meet you too! I headed over to your blog and found it really interesting – I was very interested to read that you’re living in Switzerland and also your work on finding natural and alternative cures for cancer! I love Switzerland as you can probably see we have been lucky enough to go several times 😃 it must be different living there though to visiting? I’m now following your blog too and look forward to reading more of your posts. Thank you very much for connecting to mine too, very best wishes Rosemary 😃

    Hello…

Here’s a little New Years message from Türkiye to say “thank you”. I appreciate your recent ‘follow’, knowing how many interesting and entertaining blogs there are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my little corner of the world tries to offer an eclectic smattering of posts, from basic amateur photography, to sharing my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on our fruit farm in southern Turkey. I also throw in a few of my observations on life and lighter-hearted stuff for good measure.

You are more than welcome to have a look around, stay a while and have a trawl through my small collection. There are plenty of categories within the drop-down menus to help in said digging process. Of course, if you have any comments, suggestions or concerns, feel free to let me know – I’m not easily offended 🙂

Hope you have a great day and even better 2015…

Hello Rosemary! Thank you for the follow and reaching out! I love that we can connect through the blogoshpere and share travel advice and adventures this way! I also love that you chose a French title, and OF COURSE it is SO nice to meet other teachers that also have a passion for travel! So nice to meet you! I very much agree that history plays such an enormous role in shaping our modern world, but it so often tends to repeat itself. Happy blogging, looking forward to reading more of your posts!

    1. Hello Rachel, you’re very welcome and great to meet others who have similar interests via the blogosphere! Love the title of your blog too “Le Savoir Vivre”, which I think literally translates as the “knowing living” 🙂 I agree far too often history repeats itself – it’s like people never learn but at least you get a broader perspective if you know about history and hopefully in time lessons will be learnt! Happy blogging too and also look forward to reading more of your posts! 🙂

Hi Rosemary, Thank you for following me and your kind comments. I spent 4 months in Perth (it was so hot) and then spent a couple of months in Manjimup apple picking, this was 30 years ago . Look forward to reading your posts, will bring back some memories. Cheers Deb

    1. Hi Deb you’re very welcome! It is such a small world at times. You must have been here over the hottest part of summer in January and February? I did find it hot when we first came but think I must have adjusted as really I don’t think it’s too bad now and it’s a dry summer heat, which I find more bearable than humidity. We also lived in Melbourne for a few years – freezing in winter and hot and humid in the summer but a beautiful city nevertheless! We’re just coming to the end of winter – we actually put a wood burner in last year as the back of the house was always so cold (we do get cold winter nights here in Perth down to nearly freezing on occasions!). We’re also near the ocean so get the benefits of the afternoon sea breeze in the summer months 🙂 We’re off down to Yallingup for a few days this week so I’ll be doing some posts about that when I get back. Our extended family and now our younger daughter are all in the UK so my blog is a mixture of life in Perth and my travels, glad to have connected via the blogosphere! Best wishes Rosemary 🙂

    1. Hi Johanna, you’re very welcome and likewise thanks so much for the follow on Le Chic En Rose! I have looked through some of your beautiful photos and they are superb! I love the winter scenes with all the snow as we don’t get any here in Perth (occasionally there is a light dusting of snow in the far south west of WA but that’s all!). Australia is a fascinating place – such huge distances between places though! New Zealand is amazing too with gorgeous scenery – there would be so many photo opportunities in both places! We have family in the Uk (we come from there originally) so travel over about once a year now – always love my European trips too. Look forward to seeing more of your photos and have a great weekend too, Rosemary 🙂
