Some photos below taken a couple of weeks ago down at Hillarys Boat Harbour walking out along the breakwater. It was the first time we had been down to the sea for a while (even though it’s only a 5 minute drive away) as we opted to do voluntary self isolation whilst our daughter, Mlle, was doing her mandatory 14 day quarantine after arriving back from London. It was also the first day for a while that the weather changed and we had cool and blustery conditions. The waves regularly broke over the rocks and we ended up getting quite wet! It was invigorating and refreshing though.
Happily since then it has been quite warm and sunny so we’re making the most of it before rain and showers come in from the south west later this week.
We know we’re very fortunate to still be able to get out for daily walks and enjoy the wonderful Perth coastline. Earlier this week in Western Australia we had the first easing of restrictions and now gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted both indoors and outside (for friends and acquaintances not just family members).
Our borders will remain closed indefinitely so for now we are an island within an island plus we have regional travel bans so can’t venture too far from Perth.

The Perth coastline is so beautiful, how lovely that you can enjoy it with your family. Interesting that the lockdown is being eased off a little. I will be looking forward to something similar happening here in the UK soon. Fingers crossed!! Keep healthy 😄

Thanks Gilda – it’s a beautiful place 🙂 Yes certainly hope you can start having some restrictions lifted although I know we have had nowhere near the same numbers of cases here especially here in the west. However there have been strict social distancing measures, which were put in place early on plus border closures. We are moving cautiously towards more opening up here possibly by the end of the week but the borders will be closed for a long time. Keep safe and healthy!

Hi Suzanne – yes agree we will all have to learn to with the virus. I can’t see it being eliminated and have concerns a vaccine might be rushed out too soon, which in fact could cause more problems if not properly tested! We are cautiously moving to opening up more things here to get businesses and the economy started up whilst balancing health measures. I can’t see the border restrictions being lifted any time soon – the intrastate borders withing Western Australia might well be eased but not the interstate or international ones. They will be in place for many months especially the international ones. Hope you’re keeping safe and healthy 🙂

Thanks Margaret – yes lucky living here. Although there are many restrictions on our usual daily lives we have never had to be in such strict lockdowns as in many parts of the world. Fingers crossed things are cautiously starting to open up here and hopefully soon for you too!

An island within an island – I quite like that. Cornwall could be easily separated from the rest of the country. It would be nice if similar restrictions were enforced here.

I think it’s been one of the most successful containment measures here Jude. It means the WA state government can now start to look at easing restrictions to get people back to work and their activities here whilst keeping our state borders closed for the time being. We actually have 9 regional zones within Western Australia with travels bans between them. Unless you have official papers to explain why you need to go to another zone you are turned back at the checkpoints (not that I’ve been anywhere near them just been staying close to home). These regional restrictions may be relaxed soon but the interstate and international travel bans will remain in place for some considerable time probably many months. As you say Cornwall could easily be separated from the rest of the country!

It’s funny how we all adapt Jo- was so exciting last week when gatherings of up to 10 people were allowed again! Virtual travel is the order of the day and will be for some considerable time to come as far as I can see. Yes we’re all safe and well here, sending hugs your way! 🙂 🙂
