Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

I seem to be chasing my tail at the moment trying to get everything done before Christmas. Our younger daughter, Mlle, arrives from London this week for a 3 week visit and then my dad is coming out in the New Year. Hence some of my intended blog posts have gone a bit out of the window – still haven’t finished my Swiss series from this year’s trip so that will have to wait for the New Year!

In the meantime I’m going to do a summer series out and about in Perth – some snapshots of life here. I do realise we are lucky to be enjoying the warm summer weather but if it’s any consolation to northern hemisphere readers I do love seeing pictures of crisp, snowy wintry scenes – it still feels more like Christmas to me that way!

Here in the spirit of the season are a few photos we took last weekend of the Christmas lights in a neighbouring street. We took our little granddaughters along amidst much excitement!

It’s easier to ‘go with the flow’, and post Christmas photos, isn’t it, Rosemay? I still have yards of Lisbon and Algarve to share but I keep being diverted. We’re off to Leeds today and hoping the weather isn’t going to be as bad as forecast. I would have liked to take ‘our’ little one to Roundhay Park to see the lights but not sure if it’ll happen. Wishing you all the best and a wonderful Christmas time. 🙂 🙂

    1. Thanks Jo – very difficult not to get caught up in the feeling you should be doing something at this time of year! It’s snowing in London – just got a video from our daughter so hope it isn’t too bad with you and you get to see the lights! It looks lovely on the video but different if you have to travel anywhere. Been hot and humid here but cool change coming – Mlle won’t be impressed much cooler by time she arrives here end of the week. Wishing you a wonderful happy Christmas too xx

It must be strange to see Santa and snowmen when it’s warm – i’m not surprised it takes a while to get used to. Very pretty though, and compliments of the season to you and yours too.

    1. I’ve been here 27 years Anabel and still not quite used to it – we have had a couple of cold Christmases back in the northern hemisphere though. I always get a real tree here! Love the scent and it feels more like Christmas that way. A very merry Christmas to you as well! 😃

I never really get that Christmassy feel over here in the heat. But your photos have captured that feeling

    1. Thanks Pauline – I know the feeling well but the lights do help to capture the Christmas spirit! We have just got our real Christmas tree too so that helps – lovely scent wafting through the house!

    1. Thanks Ken and compliments of the season to you! I think having grown up with cold Christmases it always feels a bit strange being hot but have all my own lights and decorations up now so feeling festive! 😃
