Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

A slighted belated Christmas message but it should still be Christmas Day somewhere in the world! Wishing everyone a joyful festive season and very best wishes for 2016! Thanks to all the lovely people who visit Le Chic En Rose – I value all your comments and support and very much enjoy reading everyone else’s fascinating and varied blogs. Here is a short montage of our Christmas festivities including our 5.30 am Christmas morning walk – Monsieur Le Chic, Winston Le Schnoodle and yours truly were on grandparent duties as our younger granddaughter had stayed up all night and her frazzled parents were completely exhausted! It took a good couple of turns over The Top Of The World before La Petite 2 finally dozed off to sleep!

5:30 am here and it is pitch black, mindst you not a lot different throughout the day either, so it is lovely to share your blue sky and sunny courtyard. Hope the parents managed to get a kip whilst you were out walking 😉

    1. It wouldn’t be light at that hour here in winter of course! Christmas Day was very pleasant – not too hot at all though it’s really heated up today! Yes they got a lie in – had been up most of the night. Mademoiselle Petite has since produced 2 new top teeth so we think that was what was unsettling her! Hope the weather isn’t too awful with you – it looks to have been so wet again especially up north where my family come from (Yorkshire). Have an enjoyable rest of the festive season! 🙂

yes is has been very bad in west and north yorkshire, not so bad where we live though rivers swollen and lots of water on the roads today driving south to my daughter’s, a horrible drive in rain, fog, mist, and lots of traffic!

        1. Sounds a horrible drive Jude – I remember driving in the fog when we still lived in the Uk and it was quite scary at times. Just been speaking to my dad in Harrogate – he’s on a hill so they are fine there though the local parks are saturated with water due to the excessive rain. Feel sorry for the poor folks in York (a city I know really well) and also Leeds, where I grew up, plus the North West counties – unprecedented flooding in many places 😦 Here we’ve just had 2 days of 40 plus with no sea breeze – I mustn’t complain but it was way too hot yesterday (41 and still). Today is so much nicer – even though it got to 34 degrees early on the sea breeze came in and it just feels so pleasant now 🙂 Hope you have a lovely New Year 🙂

I can’t even say Happy Boxing Day now, as yours will be over! How about a very early Happy New Year?

    1. Thanks Anabel no problem at all – it’s the thought that counts and to be quite honest I have to think carefully what day it is at this time of the year. The days seem to go out of sync! Hope you had a lovely Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year too! 🙂

    1. Thanks Joy – we had a lovely time though a bit sleep deprived with one excited little granddaughter who didn’t want to go to sleep (fortunately an emergency call to Santa, who wouldn’t come out until she was fast asleep, helped solve that conundrum)! Her baby sister was teething (as it later turned out) so also wouldn’t sleep either but apart from that a good time was had by all!! Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas too and wishing you a very happy New Year as well! 🙂

      1. Our son was such a bad sleeper – for years – grandparents are a godsend in those situations Rosemary, I remember that so well!! Best wishes for 2016 to you too!!

        1. It’s such a strain when children don’t sleep well Joy! I was quite lucky with mine but the 2 little granddaughters have minds of their own especially the elder one! Sleep deprivation is horrible!! Hope you have a very happy New Year! 🙂

Merry Christmas! I hope you had a lovely time! What a beautiful weather ❤ We had a lot of rain over here 😦 Can we trade for a bit? haha

    1. Thanks Lucy and a belated Merry Christmas to you too!:) Happy to exchange some of yesterday’s heat (it got to 41 😦 ) but today has been lovely with a sea breeze so it feels very pleasant 🙂 My family live in Yorkshire in the north of England where they’ve had terrible floods (though my family are ok). The rain has been endless – hope it brightens up soon! Wishing you a very happy New Year 🙂

Thank you so much! It’s great to hear you had such nice weather. I hope your family won’t be affected by the floods. Such a disaster over there!! 😦 Here we also got a lot of rain…I guess is the season. Have a lovely new year!!! xo

        1. Fortunately my family are ok as they live on higher ground but the flooding has been terrible and places that I know well too such as York 😢 Wishing you all the best for 2016 😃

Happy New Years Day + 1 🙂 Always late to the party but they usually start without me.
Glad you made the most of your sunny Christmas, Rosemay. The very best of health and happiness to you all from dismal wet England! (but still smiling 🙂 )

    1. Thanks so much Jo! Sorry for late message reply too – we’ve been very busy making the most of Mlle’s last few days here! It’s been lovely having her back – will be sad to see her go but she’s had some wonderful quality time with all the family here 🙂 At least Monsieur and I will be seeing her again in April in the UK – it’s harder for my other daughter and family as they will have to wait longer to see her again but at least there’s Skype these days 🙂 Glad to hear you’re still smiling despite the rain – was very sad to see the flooding especially in Leeds and York as that’s close to home for me. Wishing you all the very best for 2016 and many more happy hours of blogging! 🙂
