It’s been something of an emotional roller coaster of a week! Monsieur Le Chic and I had a visit from the Easter stork rather than the Easter bunny this year (not literally I might add) with the surprise arrival nearly 4 weeks early of our 2nd beautiful granddaughter on Easter morning. Both La Petite and her mum, our elder daughter La Chic Maman, are doing very well back home in Perth. We were due back from our travels nearly a week before her due date and thought we’d be there in plenty of time….the best laid plans! Thank goodness for modern technology – we have been staying in touch with photos, text messages and Skype.
In the meantime the weather in the UK has been glorious, sunny and warm – spring is in the air! Here are some recent photos taken in and around the Harrogate area including a trip to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
We moved on to London last night and have a busy weekend planned with our younger daughter, Mlle, and catching up with friends. More postcards soon!

Seems as if the weather has really looked after you this week. Thank you for sharing, especially the seat in the picture frame – it may be corny, but very clever 🙂

Yes the weather’s been very kind to us this week – much warmer than the first one! I thought the picture frame was a good way to illustrate where I was albeit as you say a bit corny!

Thanks Kerry yes she was certainly in a hurry to arrive! We can’t wait to see her! The arches are beautiful aren’t they? They are the cloisters of Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire it’s a magnificent spot and the old abbey dates back centuries!

Congratulation! So great news to hear that you are grandma again to a beautiful girl. So sad to hear you could not be there for that. The same was for me when my sister just got her first little girl, and I really long to be there. But the good thing like you say that it is possible to use technology to see them. That helps. And you will see them again soon.
Looks like you are having a beautiful time anyway. It looks like a very beautiful place. I especially love the park. I wish you a great time in London 🙂

Thanks Hanne it is hard when you’re so far away at times like these isn’t it?! We are fortunate with the technology though it’s not quite the same of course as being there in person but much better than the old days when you had to rely on letters or phone calls ( very expensive long distance!). Thanks we’re now up in London and have been spending time with our younger daughter. Have a lovely weekend 😃

It can really be hard! But now you have something very nice to look forward to when you are back home 🙂
But as you say, it is better now than in the old days. Thugh skype and pictures are not the same, it helps a lot.
I hope you are having a great time with you younger daugther. Enjoy that as much as you can. I am sure you will miss her a lot when you get back as well!
Wish you a great new week, Rosemary. I am looking forward to get more news about all of this, and your stay in England.

Thanks Hanne hope to do some more posts soon. For some reason I can’t get my photos off my iPhone onto my iPad at present it usually gets done automatically. It is annoying as I’ve used my iPhone a lot to take photos in London as it is easier than rummaging in my bag for a camera with so many people around! If worse comes to worse I’ll sort it out back in Perth. Off to Munich today! Have had a lovely time with our daughter in London – fortunately she’s coming to Munich next week for 3 days to see us again! Hope you’re having a great week 😃

Too bad with the iPhone and iPad, I hate when these things happens. But like you say, maybe better to just stort it out when you are back home… even harder to do it when you are on vacation…

These photos are unbelievable. The shot taken inside of the cloister looks similar to a scene in Death Comes to Pemberley. Looks like you’re having fun.

Sorry for the very late reply Jill and many thanks for your lovely message! For some reason this comment got hidden away and I have only just found it! We are now back in Perth and enjoying seeing our new baby granddaughter and her big sister again! We had a great holiday apart from the flu! Our younger daughter has been staying here for the past couple of weeks but now she has headed back to London so I’ll have some more time to get back into the blog. Hope all’s well with you!

I LOVE the photos in this post. Spring has definitely arrived. I love the flowers, the architecture and the reflections. My favorite is the closeup shot of the Abbey walkway. Really nice capture. Well framed.

Fountains Abbey is one of my favourite buildings Gin 😃 Yes unfortunately Monsieur was sick most of the time we were in London. One day he couldn’t come out at all so I saw our daughter in the morning and took myself off to the V and A Museum in the afternoon. I got a ticket for the Alexander McQueen exhibtion “Savage Beauty” so I was very happy about that!
