Le Chic En Rose

Diaries of an independent traveller

We have just got back from a wonderful day spent at Perth Zoo! After a day running around after our irrepressible granddaughter La Petite, Monsieur Le Chic and I are not too sure we’ll be able to see in the New Year as we might fall asleep before then! So I thought I’d get in slightly early and wish everyone a very “Happy New Year” and very best wishes for 2015! I have very much enjoyed my short time in the blogging world and am looking forward to more blogging adventures in 2015! I am very appreciative of all the kind people who stop by my blog to read, like and comment on my posts and I have been amazed at the many wonderful and diverse blogs I have come across in my blog “travels”! Here are a few photos I took whilst walking along the South Perth foreshore earlier this afternoon looking across the Swan River back towards the City Of Perth! More to follow about the zoo and historic South Perth!

I would so like to be in warm climate visiting Zoos now 🙂 Have a very happy 2015, Rosemary. I am happy to have met you on WP, and looking more to seeing you here.

    1. Thanks so much Paula! I always find myself at Christmas feeling a little wistful that it’s not cold here (with the reverse seasons)but then I remember how cold I used to find the winters back in the UK! We are very fortunate here and today was a particularly lovely day about 28 degrees with a refreshing sea breeze (yesterday was way too hot it got to 39 degrees but I can cope just for one day!). I have seen on the news about the awful snowstorms in parts of Europe so hope you haven’t been too badly affected! Likewise am very happy to have met you on WordPress too and look forward to reading more of your posts and seeing your lovely photos! Happy New Year to you too! 🙂

    1. Thanks Lucy and hopefully some of the sunshine will find its way to Europe very soon! Hope you haven’t had too much snow it has looked very bad on the news reports here – very difficult if you need to travel anywhere! Happy New Year to you too! 🙂

Fortunately in Netherlands the weather is still good. We had a bit of ice on the road, here and there, but for now no snow. In Romania the situation is a whole lot different. -31 degrees last night … not fun at all. But, on the bright side, just a bit more left until spring 🙂 Hugs

        1. That’s good about the Netherlands but my goodness -31 degrees in Romania I can’t begin to imagine what that must be like. That would create a lot of hardship – hope the situation improves there very soon! I’m looking forward to a good European spring – we’ve booked to come over to the Uk to see our family (and of course our daughter in London) so am hoping it will be a pleasant spring! I hope the weather holds out for you in the Netherlands 🙂

From what I understand, it’s terrible. Very cold, a lot of deaths, people stuck in storms…I hope it will improve soon. Right now it’s sunny in NL, so I keep my fingers crossed it will stay this way hah. I’m happy to hear you will be visiting London. I’m sure your daughter will love your company even for a short while. I also hope I’ll get there soon. Sounds like a lovely city. x

    1. Thanks so much Joy! After our really hot day yesterday we had just about the perfect Perth summer’s day today – 28 degrees with a lovely sea breeze 🙂 I hope to write the zoo trip up in the next day or so I have always loved zoos wherever we’ve lived! I’ve loved reading your blog posts this year and will be looking forward to more next year! Wishing you a very Happy New Year too! 🙂

Love those views of Perth across the river. HNY to you it is 10-37pm here in Queensland. Don’t know if I can stay awake another 11/2 hours… Yawn….

    1. They are lovely aren’t they Pauline – the definitive Perth calendar view! I’m probably not going to make it to midnight either just stopping by the blog briefly en route to bed! Happy New Year – it will be 2015 by now in Queensland!

I laid in bed listening to the fireworks going off in Surfers, it was pouring down with rain at midnight and this morning the sun is out and it is going to be a hot humid one….

        1. That would have definitely kept you awake Pauline! We did watch the fireworks from Sydney Harbour (9pm here in Perth!) then got woken up by our neighbours having a loud game of footy in the street at about 3am (Winston our schnoodle was not happy!). I find humid weather difficult to cope with very enervating – that’s why I love Perth it’s usually a dry heat here and the Fremantle doctor really helps too! I’ve been to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast once and that was in July – it was lovely weather then very pleasant but I think the summers would prove too sticky for me! Hope you stay cool today somehow!

            1. They did at least apologise today ( well one of them anyway)! Good that you had a breeze always makes things more bearable!

I’m glad you happened upon my blog because that brought me to yours. I’m enjoying your posts, especially about Australia. Australia is on my “must see” list so I’ll be watching for more. Happy New Year! Laura

    1. I’m glad I happened upon your blog too Laura and thanks so much for visiting mine! I’m loving your travel posts – really enjoyed your latest about Cartagena it was so interesting! I hope you make it to Australia some day it is a vast continent and there are so many fascinating places to visit both in the cities and the outback if you’re adventurous (I have never been there myself!). Although we lived in Melbourne for 7 years, we have called Perth home for many years now, so I blog about the west coast (and my travels back to Europe seeing our family in the Uk and then travelling on to the continent). Wishing you a very Happy New Year too! 🙂

Hmmm . . . your weather looks a whole lot better than ours! But we have sunshine, too, and a bright new year dawning. I’ll look forward to your adventures in 2015!

    1. I’m glad you have some sunshine Kerry as I know the weather in the northern hemisphere has been cold and miserable recently. It’s mid summer here – I still find the reverse seasons confusing especially around Christmas and New Year which should be cold! Likewise look forward to reading about all your projects in 2015 and wishing you a Happy New Year! 🙂

I do think I’d like Perth, but as I’m never likely to see it up close, I’ll accept whatever offerings you can share, Rosemay. Wishing you a peaceful (you wish! 🙂 ) and happy 2015!

    1. Thanks so much Jo 🙂 Yes I think you’d love Perth I imagine the climate shares many similarities with the Algarve – certainly Perth is considered to be a Mediterranean climate! I’m more than happy to share photos and posts about Perth! When I first started this blog a few months ago, it was going to be primarily about my recent travels in Europe (and for Australians planning trips there) but then of course I realised that for many people Perth would be an unknown place. It really is a lovely part of the world so I added local posts in too to mix things up a bit! Very best wishes to you as well for a peaceful and happy 2015! 🙂
